Mary Lou Greco

Mary Lou Greco, 80, of rural Maynard, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with the Rev. Paul McManus and Deacon Jim Patera officiating.

Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein.

A memorial fund has been established for Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein assisted the family with the arrangements.

Mary Lou Taylor was born on March 17, 1933, in Oelwein, the daughter of Jay and Lucille (Nank) Taylor. 

She received her education at the Maynard schools and graduated in the West Central Class of 1951.  Mary Lou was united in marriage to Peter John Greco on Aug. 17, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. They lived and farmed in rural Maynard for 56 years.

Mary Lou worked as the office manager for Central Transit Warehouse in Oelwein for 35 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rosary Society. She was a seamstress and enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking and sharing family recipes with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 56 years, Peter J. Greco of Maynard; niece, Marguerite Miner; two nephews, Lawrence Greco and Steven Greco and many other nieces and nephews.
