
Doris Schott
Doris Marie Schott, the daughter of Melvin Nyborg and Vera (Gress) Sutter and stepdaughter to Louis Sutter Sr., was born Nov. 18, 1929, at Elgin, Iowa.
She passed away at Stoney Brook Village, West Union, Iowa. She reached the age of 88 years, 5 months, and 29 days.
She was baptized April 13, 1930 in St. Paul’s Methodist Church at Elgin, Iowa, and attended schools at Elgin.
On Nov. 18, 1947 Doris was united in marriage with Lawrence Leon Schott at Elgin, Iowa. To this union 15 children were born.
She farmed with her husband in the West Union, Ossian, and Castalia areas and lived east of Clermont on an acreage for the past several years and most recently became a resident at Stoney Brook Village in West Union.
She was employed by Heying Firms at West Union, Iowa at the brooder house where her husband Lawrence was the Growing Manager.
She enjoyed being a "scratch" cook and was known for her pumpkin bars she baked for her family and their friends. Doris liked growing flowers, keeping a vegetable garden, birding, playing bingo, doing puzzles, playing Scrabble, Upwards, cards, listening to old country music, and she loved fishing. She also took pride in making her own greeting cards for family and friends and will be remembered for her beautiful smile.
Surviving are 14 children, Larry Schott (Pam Polark) of Hampton, lowa, Terry Schott (deceased), Jean Hoeck (Ralph Hoeck) of Clermont, Iowa, Sue Schott-Matt-Vorwald of Holmen, Wis., Barb (Larry) Wolfs of Spring Grove, Minn., Charlie Schott of Fayette, Iowa, Jerry "Joe" (Becky) Schott of West Union, Iowa, Randy "Fritz" (Sherry) Schott of Ellendale, Minn., Marcia (Randy) Wiedenhoff of Clermont, Iowa, Cheryle (Leo) Monroe of Ossian, Iowa, Rick Schott of Elgin Iowa, Kristy (Kevin) Meyer of Elgin, Iowa, Allen (Jennifer) Schott of Clermont, Iowa, Deanna Pritchard (Glen Barnick) of Watertown, Wis., Jerrel (Christy) Schott of Mason City, Iowa and Tim (Lynae) Schott of Prairie du Sac, Wis.; 39 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; siblings, Beverly Friederich of West Union, Iowa; llo Downs of Overbrook, Kan.; Audrey Boeckenheuer of Ossian, Iowa; and Louis Jr. (Mary) Sutter of Central City, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather; husband Lawrence; a son, Terry; granddaughter Misty Schott; great-granddaughters Ella Wolfs and Emylee Anglen; and three sisters, Karen Sutter in infancy, Marie Abarr, and Shirley Halverson.
Burial was at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at God’s Acres, Clermont, Iowa.
Funeral Service was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Elgin, Iowa with Rev. Lee Boleyn as the officiant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Stoney Brook Village, Gundersen Palmer Hospice, and Gilbertson Conservation Education Area.
