Howard "Steve" Hoover

Howard Stephen “Steve” Hoover, 66, formerly of West Union passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Fontanelle, IA.

Steve was born on May 8, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Hoover family moved to West Union while Steve was in Junior High school.  He graduated from North High School.  Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Fayette County Sheriff's Department before working for Dura Automotive and retiring from Bunn coffee makers in 2012.  He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, talking with his son and playing with his dog.

On June 12, 1971 Steve married Cynthia Olson (Peska) and to this union two sons were born. They later divorced. Steve later married Claudia Stutzman of Fontanelle, IA in 2013.

Steve is survived by his wife Claudia; a son Chad Hoover and his wife Melissa and their children Abigail (Abby), Isabella (Bella), and Elizabeth (Lizzie); two sisters Julie Vance of Des Moines and Debra Vaughn of Tennessee and their families; four stepchildren Chad (Jenn) Stutzman of Altoona; Shawn (Heather) Stutzman of Staplehurst, Nebraska; Luke Stutzman of Waukee and Chance Stutzman of Greenfield; six step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and JoAnn Hoover and a son Travis (TJ) Hoover.
