Greg Lauer
A Celebration of Life gathering for Greg Lauer, 52, of West Union will be held on August 2, 2014 at Lions Park in West Union from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Bring a potluck dish/dessert etc. and enjoy the park and conversation, as this was Greg’s final wish to have everyone together. Afterwards some individuals are planning on taking Greg for one last ride to some of his favorite places.
Gregory Russell Lauer was born on May 3, 1962 to Russell and Irene (Blue) Lauer in West Union, IA. Greg was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado, IA on August 26, 1962. Greg was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, IA.
Greg graduated from North High School in 1981. Over the years Greg worked for Heying Firms, Inc. in West Union, IA, Atwood in West Union, IA, Mediacom in Decorah, IA, and the latest was Ashley Industrial Molding in Oelwein, IA.
Greg was united in marriage to Kelli Anderson on August 22, 1987 at Zion Lutheran Church. In this union he had two children, Zach and Amber. Later Greg and Kelli divorced.
Some of Greg’s favorite things to do were spend time with his children and granddaughter, going to and watching tractor pulls, riding motorcycles, muscle cars and horses.
Greg passed away Monday, July 7, 2014, at his home with his loving children by his side after his fight with cancer.
Greg is survived by his children Zach Lauer and Amber Lauer both of West Union, his granddaughter Justice Lauer, his father Russell Lauer and his mother Irene (Blue) Lauer both of West Union, his sister Debbie (Michael) Lorenz of Des Moines, IA, his brothers Gary Lauer of Elgin, IA, Mark (Barb) Lauer of West Union, Gerald (Brenda) Lauer of Stanley, IA, David Lauer of West Union and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of other friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Clarence and Clara (Buhman) Lauer and Elmer and Mildred (Daniels) Blue, nephew Michael Lauer, nieces Shauni and Casi Lauer.
