David Hosper, age 85, of Calmar, IA, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar, IA with the Rev. Robert Gross officiating.

Inurnment was held in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery in Calmar, IA.

Schluter-Balik Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.

David Charles Hosper was born on May 23, 1930, in Calmar, IA, the son of John and Agnes (Schneberger) Hosper.  He attended St. Aloysius Grade School, Calmar High School and Cedar Rapids Business College.  After graduating, David was employed as a accountant at Bucheit Produce.  In 1980 David purchased Winco Farm Supply in Calmar, which he owned and operated until his health declined in 2005.  David married Marian Klimesh on August 16, 1952, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville.  Together they raised three sons.  David was a life-long parishioner of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, a charter member of the Calmar Lions Club, and a member of the Calmar Commercial Club.  He enjoyed traveling, fishing trips, and going on Sunday drives.  He had a special love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

David is survived by his wife of almost sixty-three years, Marian Hosper, Calmar, IA.  Three sons:  Richard (Teena) Hosper, Calmar, IA; Steve (Cheryl) Hosper, Melbourne, IA; Sam (Kerri) Hosper, Naperville, IL.  Eight grand-children:  Nathan (Jessica) Hosper, Owatonna, MN;  Derrick (Natalie) Rogers, Cedar Falls, IA;  Dustin Rogers (Special friend Nana), Cedar Falls, IA; Jessica (Rick) Brimmer, Waterloo, IA; Kyle, Carly, Haley and Neal Hosper, Naperville, IL.  Four great-grandchildren: Avery, Cassandra and William Hosper, Owatonna, MN and Ellyn Rogers, Cedar Falls, IA, along with many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents: John and Agnes (Schneberger) Hosper.  Sister:  Cleo Mae and (Paul) Gerlich.  Nephew: Vince Gerlich. His father-in-law and mother-in-law: Frank and Mayme (Holub) Klimesh.  Niece: Maryet Rowell.  Brothers-in-law: Morris Klimesh, Elmer (Martha) Klimesh and Frank and (Mary Lou) Klimesh.
