
Esther Adams
Esther Klaich Adams, 88, of Fayette, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 22, 1927, in Toltec, Colorado to Mike and Eva (Smirchich) Klaich.
She attended Pictou School, and graduated from Oak Creek High School in 1945. She continued her education at Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colorado, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education.
Upon graduation, she began her elementary education career. Esther taught for five years in Colorado; followed by five years at La Mesa Spring Valley, California; and then 22+ years at North Fayette Community Schools in West Union, Iowa.
After moving to California, she met her husband, Richard Dewey Adams, a native of Arlington, Iowa, in La Mesa, California, during church activities.
On August 24, 1957, Esther was united in marriage to Richard in Oak Creek, Colorado, at the Methodist Church. Four children were born of this union, Paul Richard, Fred Chester, John William and Joyce Ann.
Esther was an active member of the Fayette United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Iowa Retired School Personnel Association (IRSPA), and the Life National Education Association (formerly American Association of University Women).
She enjoyed family gatherings, reading, having coffee with good friends, and gardening.
Esther is survived by children, Paul (Jennifer) Adams of Denver, Colorado, Fred (Maggie Gibbons) Adams of Ann Arbor, Michigan, John (Shelly) Adams of Arlington, Iowa, and Joyce (Scott) Chase of Bloomington, Minnesota, and six grandchildren, Jessica Adams, Douglas Adams, Wayne Adams, William Adams, Tiffany Adams and Adam Chase.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all her siblings; brothers, Fred, Mick, George and Nick Klaich and sister Sophie (Klaich) McLain.
Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015, from 6 - 8 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fayette.
Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Fayette
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be directed to the Fayette Community Library.
