James A. Dierks, 77, of Maynard, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, July 8, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.
Memorial Service: 4:00 P.M. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard with Rev. Dennis Frank officiating and military honors by the Lundbye-Carpenter American Legion Post #245 Honor Guard of Maynard.
Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Maynard.
Inurnment: At a later date in Hope Cemetery, rural Westgate, Iowa.
A Memorial Fund has been established in his name.

James Alfred Dierks was born August 15, 1937 at Waterloo, Iowa the son of Wilbur and Lucille (O’Neil) Dierks.
He graduated from Sumner High School and continued his education at Upper Iowa University.
Jim proudly served for four years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He then went on to continue his education at Mankato State University and the University of Phoenix.
On August 8, 1965 he was united in marriage to Renee Marie Lang at Hope Lutheran Church.
Over the years Jim farmed, taught English at New Hampton, was a Guidance Counselor at West Union, Vice Principal at Coolidge, Arizona and Principal at West Central, Maynard.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Chandler, Arizona, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard and the Lundbye-Carpenter American Legion Post #245, Maynard.
Jim loved working on the farm, woodworking projects, fishing, playing cards, watching baseball and football, and most of all spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife: Renee Dierks of Maynard; 3 children: Darrell (Jill) Dierks of Phoenix, Arizona, Lisa (David) Newberry of Canton, Connecticut and David (Kathryn) Dierks of Bettendorf; 8 grandchildren: Nicole (Ryan) Green, Samuel Dierks, Rae Ann Newberry, Jacob Newberry, Hayden Dierks, Abbey Dierks, Amber Kessler and Ryan Kessler; 1 brother: John (Marlys) Dierks of Chandler, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and several grand kittens and grand puppies.
He was preceded in death by his parents. 28u28
