Elaine Deloris “Peppy” Koch was born May 30, 1928, in West Union to John and Elsie Koch. She was raised on a farm in Eldorado.
Peppy was baptized Sept. 30, 1928, and confirmed March 29, 1942, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado.
She was a 1946 graduate of West Union High School.
In the early 1960s, Peppy joined the staff of the West Union Medical Clinic, where she worked as a nurse for more than 25 years until her retirement.
She married Alfred “Mitch” Mitchell. He preceded her in death.
Peppy loved cooking, gardening and antiques. She was well-known for her tasty rice dumplings, homemade bread, and delicious cookies, and she loved to share her treats with family and friends. She looked forward to raising tomatoes and other fresh vegetables in her garden each year, and the outside of her home showcased an abundance of colorful flowers. Peppy cherished her antiques; she loved to find them and collect them. Each had special meaning to her.
A lifelong resident of the Eldorado-West Union-Elgin area, Peppy moved to Colorado in 2014 to live with her son, Chuck, and to spend more time with her grandson Adam and his family.
Preceding Peppy in death were her husband, Alfred “Mitch” Mitchell; her parents, John and Elsie Koch; her brothers Herb, Ralph, Richard, John Jr., and Gerald Koch, and Marvin Rothmeyer; and her sisters Marilyn Bryant, Violet Sutter, and Margaret Mae Martin.
She is survived by her son, Chuck Koch (Karen Kubicek) of Indian Hills, Colo.; a grandson, Adam (Tia) Koch; and two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Hailey Koch.
Memorials may be directed to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado.
